What it’s all aboutThe Friends of Maynards Green is a very active PTA with strong support throughout the school community. Any parent/carer or staff member is welcome to join – you don’t have to be on the committee to be a Friend! Over the years the Friends have provided the school with lots of extra facilities and equipment – including the recent addition of an adventure play structure to the KS1 playground. Our fundraising efforts also pay for the chemicals and daily upkeep of the school swimming pool – a much-valued facility that is enjoyed by all children at the school – and provide each class with an annual cash donation which the teachers use to buy ‘extras’ such as Lego, Playdoh, art materials, DVDs and CDs, DT project materials, toys, etc. But it’s not all about raising money. The Friends are behind some of the most enjoyable and popular events in the school calendar, including the Christmas and Summer Fairs, Mother's Day Gift Sale, Children's Discos, Cake Sales, Auction of Promises, Quiz Nights, Barn Dance & Hog Roast, Ice Skating, Father Christmas class visits, etc. We also provide refreshments at school functions, crèche facilities during parent-teacher consultations, an Easter egg for every child, ice lollies on sports day, and sports trophies/medals.
